'When you wish upon a star'

Tikie Yoes made her dance world debut at the tender age of three under the tutelage of long-time local dance icon Nancy June Brandon. The recital had a Disney theme and featured a precocious Yoes taking a turn in the spotlight as Mickey Mouse, complete with oversize ears. She even belted out a heartfelt chorus of the Mickey Mouse theme song.

Fast-forward some 22 years and countless practice sessions, recitals, dance camps and performances later.

When her mentor retired after more than 40 years on the dance scene, Yoes and her sister, Tabitha Ivey, took up the challenge of communicating the joy of dancing to a new generation of students.
