"It is a really gratifying feeling after many long years of hard work and frustration," said Cheatham. "I don't have the off-season clutter like in previous years. There are no what ifs, it is like having a clean slate.
"It is dampened a little though by the fact that none of our players were named to the first team squad and only two are on the second team. In my book, they are all first-teamers. These accomplishments belong to the girls."
Sophomore hurler Shelby Stinnett is on the Mid-State Team for a second consecutive season and center fielder and lead-off hitter Haley Mathis got the nod for the first time.
Cheatham will begin her 12th campaign next year and by her side on the bench the entire time has been her husband Dick Cheatham.
