Lynnville Blackberry Festival June 28

We congratulate Lynnville artist Jim Green for being named grand prize winner of the Energen art competition. His prize-winning work was "Monte Sano Winter Afternoon." Some 120 artists entered the contest in Birmingham, Ala. Green won a cash prize. He owns Main Street Gallery in Lynnville located on East Main Street.

We congratulate Tegan Gregory and Trevan Locke on receiving the Craig Scholarship to Vanderbilt University for four years. Both students are 2008 graduates of Richland High School.

The Jones High School Class of 1967 held a class reunion at the Magnolia Garden Tea Room in Lynnville on May 17. The Class of 1968 from Jones High School held a class reunion on May 31, also in the Magnolia Garden Tea Room.

Janet Tuckerman and Bobby Allen Hollis Jr. presented their piano students in recital on Saturday evening, May 31, in the sanctuary of Lynnville First Presbyterian Church. The following students performed in the recital: Hunter Evans, Jared Moore, Jason Moore, Caleb Neale, Matthew Russell, Carolyn Sheets and Kayley Sims. All students received a certificate and rose at the end of the recital.

Music teacher Bobby Allen Hollis, Jr. presented the Jamie M. Edmondson Exemplary Music Award to Carolyn Sheets. This award is in memory and honor of Hollis' music teacher. Music teacher Janet Tuckerman presented the Adele Berk Exemplary Music Award to Caleb Neale. This award is in memory and honor of Tuckerman's music teacher. These two awards will be given at each recital, one in November and one in May to a deserving individual.
