Police weigh alternative fuel
Lewisburg's new police chief is investigating a new kind of fuel for police cruisers, he said Monday in anticipation of tomorrow night's meeting of the Police Advisory Board.
With the price of gasoline at about $4 a gallon, and local government budgets being rearranged to pay continuing fuel costs, Lewisburg leaders are looking for ways to reduce their energy costs.
Police Chief Chuck Forbis says he is looking at E85, a motor fuel blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline, virtually the opposite of the blend found at practically all other filling stations.
