TSSAA state tournament participants Jenna Branaman and Lyssa Wiles lost only three matches this year and stretched the MCHS streak of state tournament appearances to seven years.

The season did not end the way Lyssa Wiles and Jenna Branaman would have liked, they lost in the first round of the state tournament, but the Tigerette tennis duo were recognized for their great play during the season by The Tennessean this week with their selection to the All Mid-State second team.

Wiles and Branaman, first cousins, lost only three matches the entire season and secured heart-stopping wins in both the district tournament and the region to reach the Spring Fling.

For Wiles, the selection was her second consecutive after being named with Tori Richardson last year.

Branaman, a 2007 state singles quarter finalist, was named for the first time.

Both players will return for their senior season determined to avenge their loss and continue the streak of state tournament double appearances for MCHS girls tennis to eight consecutive seasons.

Once again, MCHS tennis coach Dickie Adkins' years of hard work were slighted when The Tennessean selected a first-year head coach as coach of the year for the second consecutive year.
