John Alfred Elbert Hightower, 70, of Lewisburg, died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Mr. Hightower was a native of Marshall County. He was retired from Sanford Corporation and a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Wortham and Maggie Lee Robinson Hightower; and his wife, Lillian Ann Morris Hightower.

He is survived by three sons, Kirk (Cecilia) McLean and Delane Hightower of Lewisburg, and Randall Hightower of Nashville; six daughters, Brenda (Michael) Odom of Murfreesboro, and Lueshell (Paul) Taylor, L'Tanya Hightower, Felicia Hightower, Renita (Tim) Martin, and Consuela Jones, all of Lewisburg; two sisters, Maietta (Thomas) Williams and Diane (Darnell) Henry, both of Lewisburg; 22 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at London Funeral Home, and from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour Sunday, June 22, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, followed by burial in Mt. Carmel Clay Hill Cemetery. London Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
