Dan Strasser presents a check from Marshall County Young Farmers and Ranchers to Extension Agent Trent Jones.
June is dairy month and to honor our dairy farmers, the Marshall County Young Farmers and Ranchers have made a contribution to the dairy program. The contribution will help fund the showmanship class at the annual 4-H dairy show in August.

Marshall County is consistently ranked in the top ten Tennessee counties for dairy production according to Tennessee Department of Agriculture statistics. "We are proud to be part of a county with such strong agricultural heritage," says YFR county president Dan Strasser. "It is the home to many outstanding family dairy farms as well as the University of Tennessee Dairy Research and Education Center."

Dairy is not only a way of life for some farmers; it is a recommendation for a better life for everyone. USDA and health professionals recommend having at least three servings of dairy products a day as part of a healthy diet. Find out if you're getting enough milk in your diet at www.3aday.org.

For more information about the dairy show or other 4-H programs contact Marshall County UT Extension at 359-1929.

The YFR program is open to anyone interested in agriculture between the ages of 18 and 35. To learn more call Dan Strasser at 364-3578.
