Wiles' pay recommended
The new executive director of a countywide panel for economic and community development should be paid $45,000 per year, according to a unanimous recommendation of the panel's executive committee on Friday.
Mike Wiles, 48, of McBride Road, who's been a human resources generalist at the Calsonic Kansei North America plant here, was elected June 10 by the Joint Economic and Community Development Board of Marshall County.
He succeeds Jamie Stitt who's now working for the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development's Three Star program that, among other things, rates local governments on their eligibility for state grants.
The JECDB Executive Committee responded to Chairman Edmund Roberts' request for a motion to pay Wiles a figure that was discussed during Wiles' interview with the five mayors last winter.
"We had budgeted a $45,000 amount for his salary," Roberts said.
Wiles was not present during the JECDB Executive Committee meeting because, Roberts said, there was a goodbye party for him at CKNA.
