Westhills Elementary receives $4,500 grant

Friday, July 4, 2008

Elizabeth Frey, a Westhills Elementary School teacher, has been awarded a $4,500 Lowe's Toolbox for Education Grant. Her grant application was based on the goal of improving the learning community in her school.

The project is entitled "WES Reading Garden and Outdoor Classroom." It will consist of a garden with enough seating for one classroom, flower beds taken care of by students, and places set up for students to plant vegetables and annuals. If money allows, a small greenhouse will also be set up.

This project not only enhances the students' knowledge of plant life, but, more importantly, will also foster a greater sense of school pride in the students of Westhills Elementary School.
