The Moore County Girls AAU 14 and Under Basketball team is headed for Hampton, Virginia to play in the AAU Division II Nationals. After tying for fifth place in 13 and under competition last year, this year's Moore County team has aspirations of bringing home the first place honors.
This team is part of the Amateur Athletic Association, an athletic organization that promotes amateur competition in various sports on a national forum. AAU competes outside of the normal high school program.
Borrowing old uniforms and the Moore County Raiderettes names, members of this team consist of talented players (14 years and younger) not only from Moore County, but also from surrounding high schools including Forrest High School, Shelbyville Central, Franklin County High School, and Saint Andrews School.
The representatives from Marshall County on the AAU team are twins, Christina and Anna Curtner, both entering their sophomore year at Forrest High School.
