Donald Ray Garrett

Donald "Donnie" Ray Garrett, 55, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Maury Regional Hospital.

Mr. Garrett was a native of Carrolton, Ga. He was a self-employed plumber and a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruby Cheeves Garrett; brother, Joel Thomas Garrett; and sister, Sue Farrar Garrett.

He is survived by his father and stepmother, Thomas and Russie Garrett of Lewisburg; sisters, Julia Smith of Chapel Hill, Marilyn Hooten of Murfreesboro, and Carolyn Herriman of Woodbury; and brother, Billy Paul Garrett of Batesburg, S.C.

Graveside services were conducted Thursday, Aug. 7, at New Hope Cemetery, Ostella.

London Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

James Laws Ricketts

Mr. James Laws "Jim" Ricketts, age 64, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Tuesday evening, August 5, 2008, at his home after a short illness.

Mr. Ricketts was born in Maury County, served in the United States Air Force and was a self-employed contractor. He was a member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where he was very active in missions work. He was a son of the late James Alonzo and Martha Elizabeth Laws Ricketts.

Mr. Ricketts is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ricketts, Chapel Hill; two sons, David Thomas Ricketts, Cleveland, and Brad McCulley Ricketts, Chapel Hill; sister, Martha Jane Smotherman, Columbia; brother, Marvin Ricketts, McMinnville; two grandchildren; one great grandchild.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday evening, Aug. 8 at 7 p.m. at the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill with Rev. Mark Youngman and Bob Snell officiating. Burial will be in Swanson Cemetery with graveide services being private.
