As an elder at Westvue Church of Christ, Thomas Blalock often counsels members of his congregation who are grieving over the loss of a loved one.
Blalock did not learn about the stages of grief by taking a class where they discussed cold, theoretical concepts. He learned about the anger and the denial and the sleepless nights and the pain that never seems to stop after losing a son 20 years ago.
