CKNA opens health clinic
A Lewisburg factory took a big step toward long-term employee health on Monday.
CalsonicKansei North America Inc., the successors to Kantus at the factory on Garrett Parkway, Lewisburg, held a ribbon cutting, lunch, and health fair to celebrate the opening of their new CKNA Employee Health Clinic.
"I think it's going to be a great benefit for employees, especially since there's no cost to see board-certified practitioners and get prescription drugs," said Debbie Nelson, health services coordinator.
The clinic will initially be open 26 hours per week, including some Saturdays, for CKNA workers who have the company's Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance, and also for their dependants over 7 years old.
Dr. Belinda Bart and Family Nurse Practitioner Christine Lamphier will see patients. When they are not in Lewisburg, the doctor and nurse practitioner will be at the company's Shelbyville factory where a similar clinic is being set up.
The Lewisburg clinic will offer complete physicals, wellness exams, lab studies, free prescription drugs, and care for illness or injury.
Nutritionists and exercise physiologists will be available for consultation to improve quality of life and provide knowledge to build a healthy lifestyle.
The doctor and nurse will refer patients for radiology and also to specialists if they decide treatment is necessary.
The clinic is housed in a renovated portion of the wing at the north end of the factory that holds offices, conference rooms, and the cafeteria.
Bob Masteller, vice president of human resources, spoke before the ribbon cutting and called it "an historical event."
CKNA started the project in January, and Masteller told the assembled dignitaries and employees, "This opening not only demonstrates our commitment to promote employee wellness but also our commitment to the well-being of you and your families."
Masteller concluded his speech by saying to the employees, "I hope that each of you will take advantage of the free health care this clinic will offer. I believe that these clinics will provide you every opportunity to have the highest quality primary medical care, delivered right at your worksite and within your own community. You are the reason this clinic exists. You are the reason for Calsonic's success."
