It was high drama over the weekend as members from Saddle Creek Golf Club and Champions Run Golf Club came together for the 4th Annual Mid-State Cup matches.

Saddle Creek came into the two-day tournament as defending champions, holding a 2-1 lead in the yearly matches.

Champions Run was the host squad for Saturday's play and outplayed the Lewisburg squad in Rockvale, holding a commanding 17 point lead going into Sunday's play at Saddle Creek.

The format for the weekend was match play with 18 holes of golf on both courses. Three points were available for each head to head match with one point awarded for the front nine, the back nine, and overall winner.

The Rockvale team had seen leads slip away before at saddle Creek, but on this day they held firm and came away with an impressive 102 to 88 win to reclaim the cup.

The leading point winners for Champions Run were Doug Entz, who garnered all 6 of his points. Kenny Feher, David Tucker, and Dan McCarty all tallied 5 and Tom Stewart and pat Sweeney each made five out of six for the winning squad.

For Saddle Creek, Dennis Delaney scored a perfect 6. Mike Tankersley, John Myhr, Bill Dietz, and Anthony Puca all came in with 5 out 6 in the losing effort.
