Virginia Taylor Jackson
Virginia Taylor Jackson, 98, of the Rover Community, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, in Franklin.
Mrs. Jackson was a native of Bedford County. She was a retired teacher with 19 years of service in the Bedford and Rutherford County schools, and was a homemaker and a member of the Enon Primitive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Cullen and Emma Denton Epperson Taylor; and husband, Ivin B. Jackson, who died in 1944.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Saturday, Nov. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Simpson Cemetery in the Rover Community of Bedford County with Elder W. H. Reed and Elder Dudley Stovall officiating.
Sara Allen Jones
Sara Allen Jones, 85, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at Marshall Medical Center.
Mrs. Jones was a native of Marshall County. She was retired after almost 40 years as a schoolteacher. She taught junior and senior English at Marshall County High School for 18 years. She sang in the choir of the First United Methodist Church for many years, and was a member of the Marshall County Retired Teachers Association and a former member of Delta Kappa Gamma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kennie A. and Pearl Harwell Allen; husband, Nelson A. Jones; and son, Jack Allen Jones.
She is survived by her sister, Margaret A. Jordan; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Jones; grandchildren, Jacquelyn (Robert) Applegate, Jeannette (Travis) Rorabaugh, Melanie (Chris) Sisco, and Allen Jones; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Irvin officiating, followed by burial in Lone Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Allen Jones, Robert Applegate, Travis Rorabaugh, Chris Sisco, David Walker, and John Walker.
