SHELBYVILLE -- A Shelbyville police official says two men charged in a home invasion during which children were robbed have been captured.

Detective Sgt. Brian Crews said Thursday Metro Nashville Police apprehended 22-year-old Wilson Palacio of Smyrna on Wednesday. The other man, 38-year-old Jose Hermes Gomez, also of Smyrna, was arrested Monday.

Both are held in the Bedford County Jail with initial court appearances scheduled for Feb. 17.

Crews said Palacio and Gomez intended to burglarize a home, but three children -- ages 14, 10 and 7 -- were home because of a school snow day on Jan 20.

Crews said one of the men pointed a pistol and took jewelry from the children. The youngsters were then forced into a bathroom while the robbers took other valuables from the home.

Palacio and Gomez are charged with three counts of aggravated robbery and one count each of aggravated burglary and theft of property.
