Lewisburg resident Brianna H. McCullough was named to the Rhodes College Dean's List for the 2008 fall semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled in at least 16 credit hours of academic work and must achieve a semester grade point average of 3.70 or better.

A Tennessee Food Safety Certification Course will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center on the Wilson County Fair Grounds in Lebanon. Participants who successfully complete the course will earn a certificate allowing them to use their domestic kitchen to prepare, manufacture and sell non-potentially hazardous foods to the public. A benefit for Maury County Sheriff's Deputy Brian Owens will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6, at Columbia Central High School. Owens is recovering from injuries sustained in the line of duty and is expected to be out of action for at least six months.

Junior Auxiliary of Lewisburg will be holding their annual Children's Charity Ball with Burning Las Vegas on Saturday, Feb. 7, at Lewisburg's Elks Lodge. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the event ends at midnight.

A parent seminar with Jim Williams, nationally-known speaker, will be hosted by Lewisburg First United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. After the tragic death of his 19-year-old son, Jim began speaking to parents about raising and relating effectively to children and youths.
