More details of the fatal shooting in Cornersville emerged at the accused man's bond hearing on Wednesday.

Judge Roger Brandon set Donnie L. Sullivan's bond at $250,000, after hearing statements from District Attorney Chuck Crawford and defense attorney Lee Bowles.

Marshall County Sheriff's Department Detective Bob Johnson, who interviewed Sullivan after the shooting, testified that Sullivan told him there had been an altercation with his stepson, Timothy Swaw, which ended with Sullivan on the ground.

Johnson said Sullivan got up off the ground, went into the bedroom, unlocked the gun cabinet, took out the shotgun and loaded it. Sullivan told Johnson that Swaw came into the room where he was, and then he shot Swaw.

Swaw was pointing a .22-rifle at Sullivan, but it was unloaded, according to Johnson.

Sullivan is due back in court at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24.
