A probation violator from Virginia was arrested in Lewisburg Saturday and will be extradited back to his home state.

According to Officer Denise Savage's report, she was patrolling on West Commerce about 5 p.m. when she saw smoke coming out from underneath the bridge. Savage found a man, later identified as Larry Edward Talley, 44, of Norfolk, Va. He "was tending a fire he had made," wrote Savage in her report. "Offender was in possession of a knife and a large backpack. Offender stated he was walking the railroad tracks from California to Florida."

Communications checked Talley's identity with the National Crime Information Center and discovered that he was wanted by the Virginia Beach Police Department for violation of probation. His crime was unlawful wounding, a felony charge.

"Offender is a registered felon with full nationwide extradition," Savage reported. The VBPD confirmed "warrant is active - we will extradite - please hold no bond."

"A fugitive from justice warrant is on file," concluded Savage's report.

Talley appeared in General Sessions court yesterday.
