Marshall County's Grand Jury last week indicted a man on charges of child rape and aggravated sexual battery during three periods of time dating back to September 2003.
Paul Alexander Montgomery III, 38, of 2186 Poarch Hollow Road, Lewisburg was named in the 12-count indictment that states the victim was between the ages of three an 13 years.
Sheriff's Detective Bob Johnson investigated the case. That led to a warrant being issued on Sept. 12. Montgomery was arrested on Oct. 21. Oral sex is alleged. Nine counts of rape and three counts of sexual battery are described in public records.
Before Montgomery's case was forwarded to the grand jury, Marshall County General Sessions Court Judge Steve Bowden set bond for Montgomery at $30,000.
Montgomery's indictment was the only one issued by the Grand Jury when it met on the morning of Wednesday, Feb. 18. It's unusual that only one case was reported out of the grand jury, according to Circuit Court Clerk Elinor Brandon Foster.
Last month there were about a dozen with a preponderance of them alleging drug possession or sales.
