Former Forrest Lady Rocket, Nicloe Curtis of Chapel Hill is off to a great start in her sophomore season for the Lady RedHawks of Martin Methodist College in Pulaski.

MMC's Robinson and Curtis earn TranSouth Softball Honors

PULASKI, Tenn. (2/24) -- Maria Robinson and Nicole Curtis of Martin Methodist (Tenn.) College have been selected this week's TranSouth Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively for the week ending February 22, 2009.

Robinson, a 5-foot-8 junior catcher from McCalla, Alabama, helped lead the RedHawks to a 5-1 week. Martin Methodist had two wins over Huntingdon College (Ala.), two wins over McKendree (Ill.) University, and a win over Bethel (Tenn.) College. Robinson had the game winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh in game one of the double header with McKendree University. She hit .368 last week with seven hits, three doubles, one homerun, six runs scored and eight RBI's.

Curtis, a 5-foot-5 junior pitcher from Chapel Hill, Tennessee had three wins in the circle for the RedHawks last week. Curtis started and had wins against Huntingdon College, McKendree University and Bethel College. She pitched 20 innings, struck out 19 while only walking one. She had an ERA of 0.70 on the week. Martin Methodist is 7-1 on the season and currently ranked in No. 16 in the NAIA.
