Lloyd Lee Copeland

Lloyd Lee Copeland II, 28, of Lewisburg, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Mr. Copeland was a native of Panorama City, Calif. He graduated from Cornersville High School in 1999, attended Tennessee Technical University, and received bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Alabama-Huntsville. At the time of his death, he was a second-year law student at Loyola University College of Law in New Orleans. Lloyd was a proud member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

He is survived by his parents, Lloyd and Jo-Ann Copeland of Lewisburg; maternal grandfather, James Henry Klein of Moorpark, Calif.; and paternal grandmother, Sally Carolyn Copeland of Hartford, Alaska.

A joint visitation was held for Lloyd and his fiancee, Jillian Garrett, on Tuesday.

Joint funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home, followed by burial in Swanson Cemetery.

Jillian Garrett

Jillian Garrett, 29, of Chapel Hill, died Saturday, March 21, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Miss Garrett was a native of Marshall County and a member of the Baptist Church. She graduated from Marshall County High School in 1997 and graduated with honors from Tennessee Technical University in 2003. She was the Director of Finance for Duck River Agency in Shelbyville, and received numerous awards and commendations for her work and dedication to her profession.

Survivors include her parents, Lynnise and Ricky James of Chapel Hill.

A joint visitation was held for Jillian and her fiance, Lloyd Lee Copeland II, on Tuesday.

Joint funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home, followed by burial in Swanson Cemetery.

Belvie Jane Shrum

Belvie Jane Shrum, 72, of Farmington, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at Marshall Medical Center.

Mrs. Shrum was a native of Corbin, Ky. and was affiliated with the Baptist Church. She was co-owner of Duck River Ceramics.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Zelphia Moore Ohler, and son, Allen Ray Shrum.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Shrum of Farmington; sons, Mike Shrum of Lewisburg and Kenneth Shrum of Murfreesboro; brothers, Joe Ohler of Richmond, Ky. and Larry Ohler of Decatur, Ala.; sister, Linda Heacock of Roscommon, Mich.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, March 24, from the chapel of London Funeral Home, followed by burial in Wheel Cemetery.

James Albert Cundiff

James Cundiff, 66, of Lewisburg, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Cundiff was a native of Detroit, Mich. He was a self-employed master plumber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert Cundiff and Mae Alvene Carden, and a brother, Tom Cundiff.

He is survived by his wife, Heather Harlin Cundiff of Lewisburg; daughters, Emily Harlin of Lewisburg, and Jamie, Kari, and Karolyn Cundiff, all of Florida; son, Jimmy Cundiff of Florida; sisters, Patty Hudson of Alabama and Teresa Ensch of Florida; brothers, John Cundiff and Carl Cundiff, both of Florida, Donnie Cundiff of New Mexico, and Danny Cundiff of Alabama; four grandchildren; and 12 nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Mr. Cundiff will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will begin at noon on Saturday March 28.

Mable Frances Eslick French

Mable Frances Eslick French, 80, of Lewisburg, died Friday, March 20, 2009, at Marshall Medical Center.

Mrs. French was a member of the Greater First Baptist Church of Lewisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Eslick and Lillie Mae Moore; stepmother, Alene Eslick; sons, James Arthur French and John Howard French; brothers, James Norman Eslick and William Eslick; and sister, Sina Eslick-Myrick.

She is survived by her husband, Howard French; daughter, Barbara Mai French; brothers, Bobby Eslick and Arthur Dean Eslick, both of Cleveland, Ohio; sisters, Gloria Eslick of Atlanta, Peggy Goodrich of Memphis, Lillie Patterson and Jacqueline Eslick, both of Smyrna, Marie Eslick of Cleveland, Dorinda Jackson of Chattanooga, and Calinda Shull, Polly Jeter, and Patricia Bailey, all of Fayetteville; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. French will lie in state at the Greater First Baptist Church of Lewisburg for one hour before funeral services begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 25. Pastor William Herbert Johnson will officiate, and burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Fayetteville.
