Paychecks turn out to be forgeries

Staff at the Handi-Mart on South Ellington Parkway cashed two paychecks that turned out to be forgeries, according to reports on file at the Lewisburg Police Department.

Officer Steve Woodward reported that the convenience store cashed an Abeco Corp. check for $487.67 on Thursday, March 12, and a Brown-Forman Corp. check for $486.34 on March 14. Both Regions Bank checks were made out to "Laquinta Cordiesha Dinsmore." First Commerce Bank returned them to the Handi-Mart as forgeries.

Woodward interviewed the clerk who cashed the check on March 14, and she described the woman as "a very well-dressed black female with long curls in her hair, driving a black or very dark blue Chevy SUV-type vehicle."
