Jury released as man pleas in HMO case

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

A Columbia man pleaded guilty Monday in Marshall County Circuit Court on a habitual motor offender charge.

Ronald Stephan Blodgett, 44, of 7034 Paige Court, entered his plea after the jury was selected for his trial, according to Circuit Court Clerk Elinor Brandon Foster.

Court records indicate that Blodgett was twice convicted on a charge of third offense of DUI while living in Michigan where he was also convicted of burglary and larceny.

Among the convictions listed for Blodgett in Maury County are: four DUIs; three for violation of a court order telling him not to drive because he's a habitual motor offender; and jail escape.

Blodgett was transported to the Marshall County jail in time for his trial that was to have begun Monday morning. He was taken there from the Maury County Jail where he's serving time on other charges.

Blodgett is scheduled to be sentenced by Marshall County Circuit Court Judge Robert Crigler on May 2.
