Lewisburg has elected its first female mayor.

Unofficial results in Lewisburg's election show Barbara Woods winning the mayor's race over Jerry Freeman by 784 to 196.

In Ward 4, Ronald McRady won 186 votes to best rival Leland Carden's 117 votes.

Councilman Hershel Davis was re-elected with 228 votes, thereby surpassing Ronnie Joe Hudson's 127 votes. Hudson said he'll run again.

In the uncontested 3rd Ward election, Councilman Odie Whitehead Jr. was elected in his own right with 69 complimentary votes.

Election Commissioner Steve Allen said while no date has been set for certification of results, that must be done by May 18.

Traditionally, the city conducts its swearing in ceremony on June 1.

Results announced are unofficial until they are certified.
