Chapel Hill notes

Friday, May 8, 2009

I hope everyone is ready for May, because it's here! Some of our April showers rolled over to another month, but they will soon stop, and the sun will shine! We'll probably find ourselves wishing for rain in the middle of Summer!

May is a busy month for Chapel Hill, so there's no time to waste!

Sunday, May 10 is a most important day - it's MOTHER'S DAY! There was a segment on the news recently about how much money mothers would earn if they were paid. It would be a nice pay check, but it would never be enough. Mothers are priceless! Please remember to honor your mother, not only on Mother's Day, but every day!

May 10 is also the day for the Forrest Baccalaureate. Graduates and their familes will receive sound advice and best wishes for "Life After Forrest". The service will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Forrest auditorium.

Saturday, May 16 will see these graduates walk across the stage in the new gym at Forrest High School and receive their diplomas. The "Pomp and Circumstance" begins at 9:00 a.m. These students have worked for the past 12 (or 13) years to reach this goal, and I want to wish them the very best for their future! Congratulations!

Tuesday, May 19 is Kindergarten graduation at C.H.E.S. The ceremonies begin at 8:15 a.m. at the school. These children will enter a whole new world as they prepare to enter the 1st grade!

Then Wednesday, May 20, the fifth graders will graduate from C.H.E.S. at 9:00 a.m. They really will be entering a whole new world as they prepare for "Life At Forrest"!

Parents will shed many tears at all these events, but they should be tears of joy as they watch their children grow and move from one chapter of their lives to another!

But wait! You can't sit down yet! The Chapel Hill Homecoming is Saturday, May 23! Sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce, this will be held at the Lions field (old football field) from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. There will be fun for everyone! A car show; a one mile, three mile and five mile marathon; softball tournament, games for kids, a fish fry and even more! For more information, call the Town of Chapel Hill at 364-7632 or Jane Grimwood at the Chamber Satillite Office, 364-3863.

I think this is enough to keep everyone busy for a while! Have a wonderful week!
