The Lewisburg Parks & Recreation Department is hosting the Ming and Roger Brown Memorial Tennis Tournament Memorial Day weekend at the Lewisburg Recreation Center. The tournament benefits the Marshall County High School and Lewisburg Middle School teams. The youth division will be played Saturday, May 23, and the adult division will be played Monday, May 25. Allyson Van Hooser of Lewisburg was awarded the Donald K. Carson Leadership Scholarship during a recent Honors Assembly hosted by the honor societies of Phi Kappa Phi and Omicron Delta Kappa at the University of Memphis.

Named for a former vice president of student affairs at the U of M, the scholarship is presented to student leaders who demonstrate a strong capacity for leadership and foster opportunities for the growth and development of other people through their leadership.

Blood pressure screenings will be held at 11 a.m. May 17, 24 and 31 at the Senior Citizens Center.

The Fourth Annual Petersburg Lions Club Walking Horse Show starts at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 15, at Lions Pride Park.

The Forrest High School graduation will be held Saturday, May 16, at 9 a.m. in the school's gym.

The ladies of the Riggs Church of Christ will hold Ladies' Day on Saturday, May 16, with registration at 8:30 a.m. and the program at 9. Janie Craun will be featured.

A Share Our Strength Great American Bake Sale, part of a national campaign to end childhood hunger, will be held at the Lewisburg Wal-Mart, starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 16. All funds raised come back into the community to help hungry children.

The Fifth Annual Dachshund Rescue Picnic will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at Henry Horton State Park.

A decoration will be held at Palmetto Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16. In case of rain, the event will be held at Farmington United Methodist Church. Donations can be brought or mailed to Janet Manire, 1513 Jenny Lynn Dr., Lewisburg, TN 37091.

The Shelbyville Church Of God Of Prophecy on West Lane Street will be holding its monthly supper and singing on Saturday, May 16. Supper begins at 5 p.m. All proceeds go toward the upkeep of the church. Guest singers will be "The Mary Bean Singers," featuring Mary Shelton.

Cochran Cemetery Board Members will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at the Lewisburg Summit Recreation Room, 730 Franklin Ave. Volunteers or those wishing to make donations should call 359-2753.

The Chapel Hill Youth Football League will be holding registration/sign-ups for Football Players and Cheerleaders in all divisions from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Forrest High School Old Gym. League fees are due at time of registration. No late registrations will be accepted.

The Marshall County School System will hold new student registration from 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 2. This is for students who were not enrolled in Marshall County Schools last year. Students who are transferring from Lewisburg to Cornersville or Chapel Hill, or the opposite, will also need to register.
