Marshall County Memorial Library is having its Summer Reading Program this summer every Thursday through July 16.

The Lewisburg Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring a Mini Cheer Camp for 4- to 10-year-olds, from June 22 through 25, at the Rec Center gym. For more information, or to register, call Jane Tilford at 359-2482.

A 90-Day Fitness Program will start in July at the Lewisburg Rec Center. For more information contact Pam Robinson at 931-637-4990, or call Jane at the LRC at 931-359-2482. A good way to get in shape. All fitness levels are encouraged.

The Marshall County School System will hold new student registration on Wednesday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is for students who were not enrolled in Marshall County schools last year. Kindergarten through sixth grade students who will attend a Lewisburg school will register at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg; all others will register at their respective schools. Students who are transferring from Lewisburg to Cornersville or Chapel Hill or the opposite will also need to register. If you have questions, contact the Central Office at 359-1581 or the school.

Nominations start Monday, June 15, for the Farm Service Agency Committee serving Lewisburg, Berlin, Verona and Mooresville. Candidates must: participate or cooperate in an FSA program, be a county resident, and live in the area where they're a candidate. Candidates must sign nomination form FSA-669A. It and other information on these elections are on the web at Nominations must be postmarked or received at the USDA Service Center by the close of business Monday, Aug. 3.


The Giles County Gospel Music Association and The Well Church of God are sponsoring a benefit supper and singing for Safe Haven Domestic Violence Shelter at 5 p.m. Friday, June 12, at The Well Church of God in Pulaski.


The town of Petersburg's Lions Club Chicken Festival and Old Glory celebration will be going on all day Saturday, June 13, featuring live bluegrass music, and free hot dogs and hamburgers in the evening. The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department will hold a hamburger/ice cream supper from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Berlin Spring.

There will be a gospel singing at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13. Featured singers will be The Ward Family from Columbia. Beginning Sunday morning at 11 a.m., a four-day revival begins. The visiting preacher will be Homer Kelly from Columbia. Monday through Wednesday services will begin at 7 p.m.


The Daughters of the American Revolution annual Flag Day ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 14, at the Little Courthouse on Cornersville Road near the entrance to Lone Oak Cemetery. Bring your own lawn chair.

The Bledsoe "Po Grab" Church of Christ, Petersburg, will hold a gospel meeting from June 14 to 17. Stan Butt Jr. is the speaker, and lunch will be served after the Sunday morning worship.

Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church will celebrating their annual homecoming Sunday, June 14. Sunday School will be at 10 a.m.; worship will be at 11 a.m.; dinner will be at 2 p.m. and afternoon services at 3 p.m.


The American Legion Auxiliary will meet at 9 a.m. Monday, June 15, at Village Manor. The young ladies who attended Girls State and their mothers are invited to join us at this meeting, and report on their experience.

The Marshall County Board of Public Utilities will hold its regular monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, in the conference room, 624 W. Commerce St., Lewisburg.

The Election Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, in Suite 120 of the Hardison Office Annex, 230 College St., Lewisburg, to certify the Town of Cornersville Election.
