The Marshall County School System will hold new student registration on Tuesday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is for students who were not enrolled in Marshall County schools last year. Kindergarten through sixth grade students who will attend a Lewisburg school will register at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg; all others will register at their respective schools. Students who are transferring from Lewisburg to Cornersville or Chapel Hill or the opposite will also need to register. If you have questions, contact the Central Office at 359-1581 or the school.

Due to budget issues, the Marshall County Memorial Library is going to be adjusting the hours of operation from July 6 to Aug. 8. The hours will be Monday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m..

The computer room will shut down 15 minutes before closing.

Hours will be changed, effective Monday, August 10, to accommodate students by being open three nights a week until 7 p.m. However, those exact hours will be announced the week of Aug. 3.

Parents who reside in Marshall County and are planning to home school their children for the 2009-2010 school year need to register with the social workers at the Marshall County Board of Education between the dates of August 6 and August 24, 2009, at 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg.

Starting today, the Farmers Market will be open every Friday from 6 a.m. to noon at Rock Creek Park.

The Marshall County Board of Public Utilities, 624 West Commerce St., Lewisburg, will be closed on Friday, July 3. It will re-open at 8 a.m. Monday, July 6.

All City of Lewisburg offices will be closed on Friday, July 3.

The Chapel Hill Town Hall will be closed on Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. The office will re-open on Monday, July 6. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Lewisburg Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring the Independence Day 5k run at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 4, and a doubles tennis tournament that starts at 9 a.m. (adult division) and 12:30 p.m. (youth). Call Jane Tilford, 359-2482, for more information.

A monthly Men's Breakfast Club for graduates of Marshall County High School will hold its inaugural meeting from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Shoney's on the by-pass in Lewisburg. The Marshall County Board of Education Director's Evaluation Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, July 6, at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg. The committee will share the evaluation with the director at 6 p.m.

The July CHYFL board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Chapel Hill Fire Hall. This meeting is open to the public.

The Marshall County Budget Committee will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in Room 2212 of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg, to continue the budget process.

The Alzheimer's Association Marshall County Caregiver Support Group will meet at noon Thursday, July 9, at the Marshall County Senior Citizens Center, 230 College St., Lewisburg. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Police Advisory Board will hold their regular scheduled monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the Lewisburg Police Dept., 101 Water Street.

The Beasley/Smotherman reunion will be held on Saturday, July 11, at the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Manier Road, between Unionville and Chapel Hill. The fellowship hall opens at 10 a.m. and a potluck lunch will be served at noon.
