The Marshall County School System will hold new student registration on Tuesday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is for students who were not enrolled in Marshall County schools last year. Kindergarten through sixth grade students who will attend a Lewisburg school will register at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg; all others will register at their respective schools. Students who are transferring from Lewisburg to Cornersville or Chapel Hill or the opposite will also need to register. If you have questions, contact the Central Office at 359-1581 or the school.

Due to budget issues, the Marshall County Memorial Library is going to be adjusting the hours of operation from July 6 to Aug. 8. The hours will be Monday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The computer room will shut down 15 minutes before closing. Hours will be changed, effective Monday, Aug. 10, to accommodate students by being open three nights a week until 7 p.m. However, those exact hours will be announced the week of Aug. 3.

Parents who reside in Marshall County and are planning to home school their children for the 2009-2010 school year need to register with the social workers at the Marshall County Board of Education between Aug. 6 and 24, at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg.

The July CHYFL board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, at the Chapel Hill Fire Hall. This meeting is open to the public.

The Marshall County Education Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, in Room 2212 of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg.

The Marshall County Budget Committee will meet at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in Room 2212 of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg, to continue the budget process.

The Alzheimer's Association Marshall County Caregiver Support Group will meet at noon Thursday, July 9, at the Marshall County Senior Citizens Center, 230 College St., Lewisburg. Light refreshments will be provided.

The Police Advisory Board will hold their regular scheduled monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at the Lewisburg Police Dept., 101 Water Street.

The Board of Commissioners of the Horton Highway Utility District will meet at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 9, in the district's office, 102 S. Main St., Chapel Hill.

The Beasley/Smotherman reunion will be held on Saturday, July 11, at the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church, Manier Road, between Unionville and Chapel Hill. The fellowship hall opens at 10 a.m. and a potluck lunch will be served at noon.

There will be a Gospel Singing at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Saturday, July 11, beginning at 6:30 pm. Feadtured singers will be The Caltons from Collinwood.

First Baptist Church on Second Avenue will be taking orders for Angelfood Ministries food boxes from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday, July 11, in the church fellowship hall. The program is open to everyone.

The annual Chapman Reunion will be held at the Belfast Lion Club building on Saturday, July 11. The doors will open at 10 a.m.; bring a dish for the covered-dish luncheon at noon.

The Executive Board Committee of the Marshall County Joint Economic and Community Development Board will meet at 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Lewisburg campus of Columbia State Community College.

The Town of Chapel Hill Park and Recreation Board will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the Chapel Hill Police and Fire Department, 119 North Horton Parkway.

The Marshall County Board of Public Utilities will hold its regular monthly board meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, in the conference room at 624 West Commerce St., Lewisburg. The public is invited to attend.

The Marshall County Solid Waste Committee will meet at 5 p.m. July 16, in Room 2212 of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg.

The Republican Women of Marshall County will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Republican headquarters on the Lewisburg Square. The guest speaker is Linda Kollmann, the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women vice president for Area 6C. The club will be preparing care packages for our soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
