Today is the last day to make reservations to attend the 2009 Forrest Alumni Annual Banquet, which will be held in the school cafeteria on Saturday, Aug. 1, with fellowship at 3 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m. For more information visit or contact Katie Harris or Ricky Sweeney.

The Marshall County School System will hold new student registration on Tuesday, July 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This is for students who were not enrolled in Marshall County schools last year. Kindergarten through sixth grade students who will attend a Lewisburg school will register at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg; all others will register at their respective schools. Students who are transferring from Lewisburg to Cornersville or Chapel Hill or the opposite will also need to register. If you have questions, contact the Central Office at 359-1581 or the school.

Due to budget issues, the Marshall County Memorial Library is adjusting the hours of operation from July 6 to Aug. 8. The hours will be Monday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Tuesday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; Wednesday through Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The computer room will shut down 15 minutes before closing. Hours will be changed, effective Monday, Aug. 10, to accommodate students by being open three nights a week until 7 p.m. However, those exact hours will be announced the week of Aug. 3.

Parents who reside in Marshall County and are planning to home school their children for the 2009-2010 school year need to register with the social workers at the Marshall County Board of Education between Aug. 6 and 24, at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg.

The Republican Women of Marshall County will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 16, at the Republican Headquarters on the Lewisburg Square for their regular monthly meeting. The guest speaker is Linda Kollmann who is the Tennessee Federation of Republican Women vice president for Area 6C. Marshall County Budget Committee will meet from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, in Room 2212 of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg, to continue the budget process.

The Senior Citizens monthly covered dish luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, at the Senior Citizens Center, 230 College St., Lewisburg. The public is welcome.


There will be a gospel singing at Cross Keys Baptist Church on Saturday, July 18, starting at 7 p.m. Limestone Bluegrass and Bro. John & the Gospel Carriers will perform. Everyone is welcome.

There will be a Supper and Singing Saturday, July 18, with the supper at 5 p.m. and singing at 6 p.m. at the Shelbyville Church of God of Prophecy. Featured singers will be The Keysman from Tullahoma.


The American Legion Auxiliary will meet in regular session at 9 a.m. Monday, July 20, at Village Manor. Members are urged to be present.


The Marshall County Beer Board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, in Room 2204 of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg. See legal ad.

The Marshall County Board of Public Utilities will hold its regular monthly board meeting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, in the conference room at 624 West Commerce St., Lewisburg. The public is invited to attend.


The Airport Board of the City of Lewisburg will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 23, at Ellington Airport, 1877 Franklin Pike.


There will be a Family Fun Day at Never Rest Park on Lewisburg Highway, Shelbyville, beginning at noon Saturday, July 25, sponsored by the Shelbyville Church of God of Prophecy.


The Marshall County Rules Committee will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, July 27, in Room 2204 of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg.

The Lewisburg Gas Department will hold its regular scheduled meeting at 4:30 p.m. Monday, July 27, at 505 N. Ellington Pkwy.



The August CHYFL board meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the Chapel Hill Fire Hall. This meeting is open to the public.


U.S. Dept. of Agriculture commodities will be distributed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, at the National Guard Armory in Lewisburg.
