A scholarship for adults available
Marshall County students who are at least 20 years of age by August 1, 2009, and have an academic high school diploma or GED are eligible for the Shuler/Wilson Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded based on education and career goals, and financial need. The scholarship recipient will receive $500 for the fall semester and an additional $500 for the spring semester, provided the recipient maintains an overall 2.5 grade point average.
Scholarship funding is provided by the Marshall Education Foundation which was established to support secondary and post-secondary education in Marshall County. The Foundation sponsors the Marshall Scholars Program, which assists students in obtaining the financing for post secondary education. They also provide funding for professional development and grants for secondary teachers along with assisting students with the cost of dual enrollment with Columbia State Community College. In addition to funding this scholarship, the Foundation administers scholarships for third party contributors. This scholarship is named in honor of Mike Shuler and Will Wilson, who have made significant contributions to the education of Marshall County residents.
Applications are available at the Lewisburg campus of Columbia State, Marshall County Board of Education and Marshall County Library. Applications must be returned by August 14th.
