LPD lead detective resigns

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

A detective resigned from the Lewisburg Police Department earlier this week.

Police chief Chuck Forbis confirmed yesterday that he had received a resignation letter from Detective Sgt. Jimmy Oliver.

Forbis refused to comment on the reasons for Oliver's resignation, but said he would be trying to fill the vacant detective position from within the police department.

Differences of opinion between Oliver, Forbis and Detective Santiago Mcklean, and allegations of discrimination against Mcklean, were discussed at Police Advisory Board meetings in March this year.

After those meetings both Oliver and Mcklean remained in their positions as detectives, with more training recommended for Mcklean.
