Mrs. Hemphill was a native of Lincoln County and a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Fayetteville. She was employed at Heil Quaker/ICP for 15 years.
She preceded in death by her parents, Rebeca Gilis Dye and John Dye; her husband, Edward E. Hemphill; son David E. Hemphill; nine brothers and a sister.
She is survived by daughters Gail Marie Porter of Belfast, Rhonda Ann Waters of Lewisburg and Charlotte Elaine Gower of Lewisburg; son Douglas Audie Hemphill of Decatur, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall in Fayetteville on Sunday, Aug. 23, with visitation from 3-4 p.m. and the memorial service from 4-4:30. Burial will be at the Talley Cemetery in Petersburg.
