Cleaning service bids reopened; Shay's wins

The cleaning service serving Marshall County's Courthouse Annex since it was purchased has again emerged from a competitive pricing system and is recommended for continued service, according to county records.

County commissioners Building Committee reviewed the bids and recommended the bid from Shay's Cleaning Service as the lowest of three, County Budget Director Freda Terry wrote in her report from the Aug. 13 bid opening.

From lowest to highest, the three bids were as follows:

> Shay's of Bristow Road in Columbia -- $54,683.40.

> Harris Interactive Group LLC of Old Lane Road, Lewisburg -- $61,984.32.

> Biggers Janitorial Service of 5th Avenue North, Lewisburg -- $87,488.46.

Bids were considered by the Building Committee led by Commissioner Mickey King with Commissioners Mary Ann Neill and Jimmy Wolover. Also present were Robert Biggers, Ray Buchanan, David Sanders and Terry.

Bids were opened at noon on July 13 in the Courthouse Annex.
