Lucille Carpenter Wooten, 102, died Sept. 3, 2009, at Harbert Hills Nursing Home in Savannah, Tenn.
Mrs. Wooten was a native of Lynnville. She moved to Lewisburg in the early 1950s and worked as a bookkeeper for Alford Pharmacy. She was matron of the girls' dorm and Dean of Women at Florida Christian College, and later worked as bookkeeper/receptionist for Dr. William L. Taylor. Mrs. Wooten was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucy Etta McGee Carpenter and Isaac Washington Carpenter, and siblings, Jettie Mae Carpenter Skelton, Nettie Naomi Carpenter Gray, and John Campbell Carpenter.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Carroll Wooten, and her nephew, Michael S. Carpenter and his family.
Mrs. Wooten donated her remains to the Genesis Legacy of Life organization in Memphis. After the term of medical research, she will be cremated and inurned at Genesis in Memphis. A memorial will be established in the Legacy Courtyard at Florida College, Temple Terrace, Fla.
