Budget hearing set for Oct. 6
Marshall County residents have the opportunity to comment on their county's annual budget on the evening of Oct. 6 when county commissioners are set to adopt their next plan for revenue and expenditures.
The document was recommended by the Budget Committee on Thursday morning, Sept. 24 when the schools' budget was added to the general fund for all other county departments with the exception of enterprise funds such as solid waste and the school lunch program.
A public hearing is to be held in the second floor conference room of the Marshall County Courthouse Annex on lewisburg's public square at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6, a Tuesday.. At 6 p.m., commissioners are scheduled to vote for the udget, setting the revenue and spending plan.
Commissioners have already voted to adopt the same property tax rate as last year when it was set at $3.09 per $100 of assessed value.
The budget is proposed for the fiscal year 2009-2010 which started on July 1. There have been various routine delays which have been accommodated by a continuing resolution that maintains a spending rate at the same level as last year.
