The Young Farmers and Ranchers of Marshall County will have a Haunted Woods every Friday and Saturday night in October from 7 until 11 p.m. at the Strasser Farm, 1.5 miles east of the Chapel Hill Post Office. There will be a flag dedication ceremony at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the North EMS Station, for the Woodsmen of the World. All are invited.

The Marshall County UT extension service will conduct its first master beef producer training session, starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1. All other meetings will begin at 6. Pre-registration is required. Call 359-1929 for more information.

The town of Cornersville will have its regular meeting of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen at 6:30 p.m Thursday, Oct. 1, at the City Hall.

The Marshall County Veterans Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, in Room 210, Hardison Office Annex, 230 College Street, Lewisburg.

The Marshall County Memorial Library is having a book club, beginning on Thursday, Oct. 1, from 3:30-4:30 p.m., with the book "Memoirs of a Geisha" by Tennessee author, Arthur Golden. Art Coomes will be leading the group. We still have some openings and if interested, just call or stop by the library.

The 2009 Hickman County Quilt Show, "Remembering Hearth and Home" will be held from noon until 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the First Baptist Church, 100 Murphree St., Centerville.


AARP, assisted by the local police department, will be collecting expired medicines during Octoberfest. Bring out-dated medicines to their booth on Lewisburg's Public Square for safe disposal.

The Retired Teachers will be selling all kinds of baked goods and crafts from their tent at Octoberfest.

Belfast Baptist Church will hold their 20th Anniversary Homecoming on Sunday, Oct. 4. There will be a covered-dish fellowship meal after morning service, followed by the Cavaliers singing at 2 p.m.


Sign-ups for large group choral performances and auditions for solos/duets or small group songs are from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 4-5 at the Marshall County Community Theatre for its annual Christmas show directed by Nancy George with Paul Thorsen the accompianist. Christmas carols will be sung during the show called "I Wish You Christmas."

The Tiger Breakfast Club of Marshall County High School will meet from 7 to 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 5, at Russell's Catering on Water Street, Lewisburg. The "Dutch Treat" breakfast is to accent those who graduated in the 1970s, but all are welcome.

The Cornersville Athletic Booster Club will hold their regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m Monday, Oct. 5, in the hospitality room at Cornersville High School Gym. All members are urged to attend.

There will be a Special Called Meeting of the Marshall County Board of Education at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5, at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg.

The Industrial Development Board of the City of Lewisburg will hold their regular monthly meeting at noon Monday, Oct. 5, at the City Hall.


Marshall County Commission will be holding a public hearing on the complete budget at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in Room 2204 of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg. All interested citizens are welcome. The commissioners will hold a special call meeting 6 p.m.

The Marshall County Ethics Committee that was scheduled for Oct. 5 has been rescheduled for 6:15 p.m. Oct. 6, at following the Oct. 6 Commission Special Session.


The Police Advisory Board will hold their regular monthly meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at the Police Department, 101 Water Street, Lewisburg.

The Shelbyville Retired Telecom Pioneers will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Richard's Cafeteria, Shelbyville. All telephone company retirees (AT&T, BellSouth, etc.) who live in the areas of Fayetteville, Lewisburg, Manchester, Shelbyville, Tullahoma and Winchester are invited. The community project for October is basic school supplies that will be donated to the Shelbyville Housing Authority Activity Center.


The Alzheimer's Association Marshall County Caregiver Support Group will meet at noon Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Marshall County Senior Citizens Center, 230 College St, Lewisburg. Refreshments will be provided.


The Goats Gallop 5K run will begin at 7 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, at Rock Creek Park. Pre-registration for the race ends Oct. 5.
