Chapel Hill news

Friday, October 2, 2009

Fall arrived officially a couple of weeks ago, but it has waited to show its cool temperatures. The leaves on trees have started to change, but we haven't seen their "true colors" quite yet.

On Oct. 17 the Forrest Alumni Association will sponsor its 2nd Annual Trivia Night at the Family Life Center at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Be rounding up your team of six members now. There will be ten rounds of questions per round. To reserve your team a table or to obtain additional information, contact Marion Joyce at 364-2212 or mjoyce@united.net. Tickets will also be available throughout the night to purchase for door prizes. All proceeds will go to provide scholarships for Forrest graduates.

The doors will open at 6 p.m., and food will be provided. The games will begin at 7 p.m.

If you are looking for a fun-filled night with friends, make your plans now to attend Trivia Night. You won't be sorry. Members of the Ronnie Brown family are the reigning "trivia champions." Be sure to come see who will "reign" next year. See you on the 17th.

Have you been to the Book Fair at Chapel Hill Elementary School? There are always some wonderful books to view or purchase. The last day of the fair is Thursday, Oct. 8. Christmas is not far away if you should know a child who loves to read.

The Rocket Band of Blue is staying busy with competitions (and doing very well). Friday, Oct. 2 they will be here in Chapel Hill for competition with Middle Tennessee Christian School. They will travel Saturday to participate in the Giles County Competition. Friday, Oct. 9, will see them at home as they compete with White House-Heritage. Saturday, Oct. 10, you'll know they're in town as they host the competition for the Middle Tennessee Small Band Championship. Make plans to come and give them your Chapel Hill support.

Are you ready for Forrest Homecoming? Today is the day. The Homecoming Parade will begin at 12:30 p.m. from Forrest School. Get a seat early - everyone will be there. The Homecoming Queen will be crowned Friday evening at 6:45 p.m. prior to the game with Middle Tennessee Christian School at 7:30 p.m.

The Lady Rockets soccer team will travel Tuesday, Oct. 6, for their match with Cascade at 5 p.m.

Our Rockets cross country team will be at Lincoln County High School Tuesday, Oct. 6, for their Midweek Meet; Saturday, Oct. 10, will take them to Smyrna for the Sharp Springs Invitational.

Have a wonderful week, and stay warm at the Rocket games. Nights are getting a little chilly.
