Louise Branan White, 89, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Mrs. White loved people and sports, and spent her entire life focused on others. She was a communicant at St. John's Catholic Church in Lewisburg. She said her greatest personal accomplishment was winning the title of " Free Throw Champion of Arkansas" at the 1939 Arkansas Girls State High School Basketball Tournament.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Marie Branan of Tyronza, Ark.; husband, Basil J. White Jr., who owned the White Monument Company in Memphis; and sisters, Betty Brean and Eloise Sellers, her identical twin.
She is survived by her sons, Basil J. (Dolly) White III of Barlett, Tenn. and Barry B. (Cherry) White of Lewisburg; brother, Homer B. Branan Jr.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Mrs. White will be held at Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 4 until 8 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Memphis at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, followed by burial in Calvary Cemetery.
