Chapel Hill notes

Friday, November 20, 2009

November is the beginning of the holiday season; however, you'll notice that as far as stores and advertisemts are concerned, the holiday season began before Halloween. The time does go fast - Thanksgiving Day is next Thursday. The annual Turkey Supper was last Friday - and so good. Students and teachers will be out of school Wed., Nov. 25, through Friday, Nov. 27, to celebrate Thanksgiving. And before you know it, Christmas will be here.

During Thanksgiving and Christmas, we always see beautiful flowers and decorations that make the season so special. Remember that even though the Chapel Hill Florist has closed, Floral Creations has opened. Vicki Douglas and Brad Douglas are there to give your home that special touch for the holidays. Give them a call at 364-2622.

Don't forget - the Chapel Hill Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, at 5:30 p.m. The parade will begin at CHES and proceed through town. It's just beautiful with the floats and cars lit up as well as the homes and businesses. Just what we need to give us Christmas Spirit.

The Rocket wrestlers will be in Smyrna Tuesday, Nov. 24, for matches with Smyrna, Wilson County and Eagleville. Weigh-in time is 4:30 p.m.

The Rockets basketball teams go to Tullahoma Friday, Nov. 20, for the Tullahoma Hall of Fame tournament. Games begin at 6 p.m.

The Forrest Middle School basketball teams will host their games with Community School Monday, Nov. 30, beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, takes them to Liberty School for games, also beginning at 6 p.m.

As you start (or finish) your holiday shopping, remember our local businesses. You don't have to travel far to find that special gift.

Have a wonderful week and a Happy Thanksgiving. Remember that day is not only for turkey and football. It's the time to give thanks for family, friends and all the blessings you have received.
