Registration is now open for the 2010 Lewisburg Parks & Recreation Youth Basketball Leagues for boys and girls ages 7-12. Leagues begin Jan. 9. Registration deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18. For more information, call Jane Tilford at 359-2482.

American Legion Post 39 will be distributing fruit/food baskets to shut-in veterans during the holiday season. If you know a homebound veteran that you would like to nominate to receive one of these baskets, please notify any member of the American Legion or leave a message at 359-7545. The post will need to know the complete name and the address of the veteran in order to deliver the basket to them.

The Town of Chapel Hill City Offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27, in observance of Thanksgiving Day. The office will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30.

The office of City Hall in Cornersville will be closed on Nov. 26 and 27 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. The office will re-open at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30.

The Marshall County Board of Public Utilities office at 624 West Commerce Street, Lewisburg, will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27, for the Thanksgiving Holiday. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30.

The Marshall County Memorial Library will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday (Thursday, Nov. 26, through Saturday, Nov. 28).

All Lewisburg City Offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, and Friday, Nov. 27, in observance of Thanksgiving holidays. The Thursday and Friday recycle routes will not run.

The MCHS Class of 1969 Reunion will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Lewisburg Elks Lodge.

Lewisburg Electric System's Board of Public Utilities will hold their regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at 599 West Ellington Pkwy. The meeting is open to the public.

The Marshall County Board of Education Policy Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg. This will be followed by a Board work session at 6:30 p.m.

The Marshall County Solid Waste Committee will reconvene at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, on the Second Floor of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg.

There will be a Job Fair for General Motors and suppliers employees from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at General Motors - Spring Hill Manufacturing, 100 Saturn Pkwy, Spring Hill. The Junior Auxiliary of Lewisburg will host a Coat Drive from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Turner Center on Silver Street, Lewisburg.

The Liggett Street Church of God will present an original play, "Christmas with the Haves and Have Nots," at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at the church, 834 Liggett St, Lewisburg.
