Letter: As friend fights, we should also fight

Wednesday, November 25, 2009

My friend, Lynda Sherrell, is fighting for her very life. She is a brave and beautiful woman. She's also very unselfish. She has taken on a battle for all women regardless of race or political affiliation.

Lynda did everything she could to protect herself and her health. I'm not the brightest star in the sky, but I would think the CA 125 test would be less expensive than hospital bills, treatments and all the rest that goes with cancer. Lynda has time set to talk with Senator Ketron and Rep. Bass in December. Lets all pray not only for Lynda, but also for what she's fighting for.

Alas, as I pen this letter, the shrunken heads in Washington have decided that we don't need mammograms until after 50 years of age; and this morning I found out that we don't need Pap smears either. And who better to decide what women across the nation need than a - I can't think of the right adjective here - Congress we have serving now.

Still praying,

Janis Brock
