Registration is now open for the 2010 Lewisburg Parks & Recreation Youth Basketball Leagues for boys and girls ages 7-12. Leagues begin Jan. 9. Registration deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18. For more information, call Jane Tilford at 359-2482.

American Legion Post 39 will be distributing fruit/food baskets to shut-in veterans during the holiday season. If you know a homebound veteran that you would like to nominate to receive one of these baskets, please notify any member of the American Legion or leave a message at 359-7545. The post will need to know the complete name and the address of the veteran in order to deliver the basket to them.

NHC HomeCare will be sponsoring "Santa for Seniors" this holiday season. Angel trees are located at Stylin' and Filin' on Cornersville Road and Hometown Grocery, South Ellington Pkwy. Items that are needed are listed on the back of the Angels and can be dropped off at NHC HomeCare Lewisburg, 493 Cornersville Rd. All donations need to be delivered by Monday, Dec. 14. NHC HomeCare is also accepting donations of non-perishable food items for the Cornersville High School 3rd Annual Canned Food Drive, and donations of old cell phones for the Cell Phones for Soldiers Drive. Donations for both of these events can also be dropped off at Cornersville Elementary School. Deadline for all donations is Monday, Dec. 14.

A Holiday Home Show in the Kings Chapel Community on Hwy 96E in Arrington is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day through Sunday, Dec. 6. The show raises funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, with 100 percent of ticket sales going to the charity.


The Marshall County Board of Education Policy Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg. This will be followed by a Board work session at 6:30 p.m.


The Marshall County Community Theatre will perform the annual Christmas show on Dec. 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 6 at 2 p.m. at the Dixie Theatre on the square in Lewisburg. "I Wish You Christmas" is a community choir choral group who will sing some old and some new holiday music. Tickets will be sold from the Dixie Box office on Dec. 1 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and for one hour before each performance.


The Christmas Giftbox will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Maury County Park. Boothholders will be in both the Baker and Exhibit Buildings. For more information, call Marsha Kirk at 931-381-2210 after 5 p.m.

A Male Gospel Extravaganza will be held 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Lewisburg Middle School.


A GED recognition ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at the Lewisburg Recreation Center.

The Marshall County Solid Waste Committee will reconvene at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, on the Second Floor of the Courthouse Annex, Lewisburg.

The Marshall County Board of Education Budget Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, in the Central Office, 700 Jones Circle, Lewisburg.

The Industrial Development Board of the City of Lewisburg will hold their regular scheduled monthly meeting at noon Monday, Dec. 7, at the City Hall, 131 East Church Street.


Auditions for "High School Musical 2" will be held Dec. 7 and 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dixie Theatre. Students in grades 7-12 are invited to audition. For more information call Alva Cavnar at 359-3254.


The Full Board Committee of the Marshall County Joint Economic and Community Development Board will meet at noon Tuesday, Dec. 8, in the large agriculture conference room in the Hardison Office Annex, 230 College Street, Lewisburg.

The Town of Cornersville will hold a public meeting at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 8, at the Town Hall to discuss the Community Development Block Grant Program and potential uses of CDBG funds.
