Herbert Frank Davis, 94, died Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at NHC Oakwood.
Mr. Davis was educated in the Park Station school system and became a member of Mount Teamer P.B. Church at an early age. He attended Hopewell A.M.E. Church until his health failed. He was retired from Fountain Creek Mills, Nora Mills, and the City of Lewisburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Annie Davis; wife, Mattie Lou Davis; brothers, Thomas and Willie Dean Davis; sisters, Hazel Tucker, Ida B. Frierson, and Lucille Davis; daughter, Mattie Davis; two infants; and two granddaughters, Cathy and Nikita Davis.
He is survived by his daughters, Annie B. Jones, Janice Woodson, Hazel Davis, and Vivian Davis; sons, Willie Frank Davis, Jimmy Davis, and Richard "Bubba" Davis; sisters, Overa Freeman of Lewisburg, Willie Mae Norwood and Rachel Bailey, both of Columbia, and Frances Marlow of Nashville; brothers, Rev. Jones Davis and Cordie Lee Davis, both of Lewisburg; brothers-in-law, Willie D. Scribner and Rev. James Nelson; sister-in-law, Mary Moore; special cousin, Minnie Davis; special friends, Linda Perry and Rev. Joe Lyons; 15 grandchildren; devoted grandson, Jonathan Davis; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, at Greater First Baptist Church, preceded by family hour from noon until 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
