Obituary: Robert Lee Harris

Robert Lee Harris, 91, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at the Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Medical Center in Murfreesboro.

Mr. Harris was a native of Marshall County. He was a veteran of the Army and was retired from Genesco. He was a member of the VFW, DAV, American Legion, and Richland Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eula Alma Vaughn and John Kenneth Harris; wife, Valta Lee Pigg Harris; sister, Louise Thompson; and brother, J. B. Harris.

He is survived by his sister, Thelma Jean (Howard) Griggs of the Berlin Community; two nieces; and three nephews.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, Dec. 15, from the chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home with Buddy Pope officiating, followed by burial with military honors in Short Cemetery.
