A native of Bedford County, he was the son of the late Cecil Woodard and Marjorie Lucille Powell and was self-employed fencer.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his grandparents.
Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years, Bernerdean Mattox Woodard; two daughters, Brenda Curtis of Bell Buckle and Marjorie Woodard of Shelbyville; two stepdaughters, Phylis McElroy of Lewisburg and Sheila Dunivan of Petersburg; one son, Jimmy Scott Woodard of Wartrace; and one stepson, Ricky Cheatham of the Mooresville Community. Four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Woodard will be conducted on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Bills McGaugh Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
