Thomas Farrar Garrett, 99, of Lewisburg, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009, in Maury Regional Hospital.
Mr. Garrett was a native of Marshall County. He was retired from the Lewisburg Gas Department and was a member of the Wilson Hill Church of Christ where he had served as an elder. He was a member of the Mooresville Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Turner and Vivian Nelms Garrett; first wife, Jolene Massey Garrett; second wife, Ruby Cheeves Garrett; daughter, Sue Farrar Garrett; and sons, Joel Thomas Garrett and Donald Ray Garrett.
He is survived by his present wife, Russie E. Burrow Garrett of Lewisburg; son, Billy Paul Garrett of Batesburg, S.C.; daughters, Julia Smith of Chapel Hill, Marilyn Hooten of Murfreesboro, and Carolyn Herriman of Woodbury; stepson, Carrol Edwards of Lewisburg; brother, Bill Garrett of Lebanon; sister, Roslyn Collins of Lewisburg; 16 grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, from the chapel of London Funeral Home with Clay Derryberry officiating, followed by burial in New Hope Cemetery at Ostella.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mooresville Fire Department, Wilson Hill Church of Christ Memorial Fund, New Hope Cemetery, or Short Cemetery.
