Obituary: Martha Sheffield Cook

Mrs. Martha Sheffield Cook, age 63, of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Cook was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Jack and Alice Wheeler Sheffield. She was a member of Forrest High School Class of 1964 and was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse having worked in Bedford County. She was a life long member and former Elder at Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Chapel Hill and was also a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband, Fred "Buck" Cook, who died in 2004, and by a brother, John Noble Sheffield.

She is survived by a daughter, Angela Cook Haines, Chapel Hill, TN; son, Shannon Sheffield (Amanda) Cook, Chapel Hill, TN; step-daughter, Tammy (Donnie) Holder, Mt. Juliet, TN; twin sister, Mary Sheffield, Chapel Hill, TN; grandchilden, Hayden Cook, Pryor Haines, Jackson Haines, Harlee Norvell; step-grandchildren, Brittany Friedmann and Donnie Holder, Jr.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 1, 2010 at Lawrence Funeral Home. Family members will also receive friends from 10 am until 11 am Saturday, Jan.2, 2010 at Chapel Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be conducted at the church at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Calvin Lunn and Rev. Joe Wiggins officiating. Burial will follow in Sheffield Cemetery near Chapel Hill.

Andy Brothers, Tim Brothers, Roger Boyce, Randall Boyce, Dicky Thorpe, Lee Adcock, Bob McKamey, Richard McKamey will serve as active pallbearers. Members of Forrest High School Class of 1964 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
