A potential candidate for sheriff and three more for county commission are listed at the Marshall County Election Commission Office on College Street.
Former Sheriff's Department officer Roger Fagan has obtained a petition to be named on the ballot, according to a list maintained by Elections Administrator Jo Ann Henry.
In the 6th District county commissioners' race, now represented by Commissioners Jimmy Stitt and Tony White, Sheldon Davis has obtained a petition to run for a seat on the commission. Stitt is stepping aside to share responsibilities for the care of his young children. Davis is the supervisor of maintenance for county schools.
In addition to names listed last week from the document maintained by Henry, Commissioners Mickey King and Jimmy Wolaver have obtained petitions, thereby indicating an intention to run for re-election.
Meanwhile, nobody has picked up a petition to have their name listed on the ballot in the Aug. 5 election in Chapel Hill where the mayor's seat and those for three aldermen are up for election.
The deadline for petitions to be listed on the printed ballot is noon on April 1.
